Principal Photographer, All the Courage Required

Under the intuitive eye of photographer Jenifer Quilici, everything comes running forward to be seen in a new light. Joining the Box of Wood Music family in Fall of 2003 as the Principal Photographer for All the Courage Required, the depth of her work heightened the impact of the project far beyond what was imagined.

It was at Wolf Mountain Camp in Grass Valley, CA. during the summer of 2001 when Phil first met Jen. Immediately, he was impressed with the unique presence she had. Powerful, subtle, humorous, and wise. Over the next two Summers Phil and Jen continued to bump into each other on the Mountain and visit, and Phil became more familiar with her great talent as a photographer.

When the time came to select the Principal Photographer for All the Courage Required, Jen was the first choice on Phil’s mind. Fortunately, she said yes right away.

“Interacting with Jen is a unique experience. It’s like she takes everything she sees and turns it inside out, putting hearts on sleeves and making those around her more comfortable with revealing themselves than they’ve ever been before.”

Phil Putnam remembers the Credit Shoot for Courage. “Jen had to shoot a series of personality shots of 12 people, 11 whom she had never met, and had roughly 10 minutes with each person. Though she had about 60 seconds to read each personality, select a location and begin shooting them, she came through with beautiful shots that clearly expressed each individual. This photo shoot stands out as one of my favorite days of my career, and I still am amazed when I look at the photography in Courage.”

In addition to her work in photography, Jen is also an accomplished artist in many mediums including pottery, paints, and collage. For years she has been impacting the art culture of Northern California as a creator, teacher, and promoter of her work and the work of her friends.

These days Jen can be found right back where she and Phil first connected. Currently she is the Guest Group Coordinator at Wolf Mountain Camp in Grass Valley, CA. and is rocking the world from deep in the forest.

Jen’s photography will continue to be a vital part of future Box of Wood Music projects, as she has signed on as Principal Photographer for Phil Putnam’s fourth album, due out in 2006.
